Description : Washington and his troops stayed here. What they endured that winter was beyond comprehension and the bravery and fortitude these men displayed was beyond measure. It makes one wish that those characteristics were in all of us. The Website for the Park is succinct: “Valley Forge National Historical Park commemorates more than the sacrifices and perseverance of the Revolutionary War generation; it honors the ability of [European American] citizens and their leaders to pull together and overcome adversity during extraordinary times.”
