Description : “This graceful statue is the artist’s version of an adult Virginia Dare, the first English child born in the New World” (source: Elizabeth Gardens Website). Virginia Virginia_dare_stampDare statue at the Elizabethan Gardens, “a glorious living memorial to the men and women of the Roanoke Voyages (1584-1587) who tried to carve out a living in a strange new world.”  It is worth noting that pro-European American publication, vdare.com, was named in honor of Virginia Dare.
